Jefferson Westside is a centrally located neighborhood just west of downtown Eugene and north of the University of Oregon campus, bordered by the Willamette River to the north and West 6th Avenue to the south. It is one of Eugene's most walkable neighborhoods, with easy access to downtown, the river trail, and the university. The neighborhood features a diverse mix of housing types and a strong community identity.
Jefferson Westside's housing stock includes some of Eugene's oldest homes — 1890s–1920s Victorian and Craftsman houses — alongside 1940s–1960s bungalows and some newer infill construction. These older homes frequently have narrow doorways, original claw-foot tubs, and multi-step entries that require thoughtful accessibility solutions. The neighborhood's urban density and older construction make CAPS-certified design particularly important.
