About River Road
River Road is a large, diverse neighborhood in northwest Eugene, stretching along the Willamette River from the Delta Highway north toward Santa Clara. It is one of Eugene's most affordable neighborhoods while still offering excellent access to the river trail system, local parks, and the growing commercial corridor along River Road itself. The neighborhood has a strong community identity and an active neighborhood association.
River Road features a wide mix of housing types — 1950s–1970s ranch homes, 1980s split-levels, and some newer construction. Homes tend to be modest in size (1,000–1,600 sq ft) with smaller lots. Many properties have original bathrooms and single-step entries that are well-suited for threshold ramp and grab bar installations.
River Road has a significant senior population and is one of Eugene's more affordable neighborhoods, which means many residents are motivated to age in place rather than transition to assisted living. The neighborhood's modest ranch-style homes are often ideal candidates for cost-effective bathroom modifications and grab bar installations.
